Anna Marie and Margaret bring more than 40 combined years of experience in Indirect Tax consulting to our clients. We are Illinois licensed CPAs and both have a Master of Taxation from DePaul’s Kellstadt Graduate School of Business in Chicago.
Prior to A&M, we worked in the state and local tax practices of Arthur Andersen and Deloitte, specializing in sales and use tax consulting. The knowledge and expertise gained leading projects for clients in various industries and tax jurisdictions is invaluable. The desire to continue sharing this knowledge, building relationships, and being trusted advisors for all sales and use tax-related issues, brought us to this next step in our careers. Creating our own firm increases flexibility and decreases overhead which drives added value for our clients.

Throughout my career, my goal has been not only to help clients with their state and local sales and use tax concerns, but to become a trusted advisor and partner. My passion for growing business and helping others succeed came early in life. My entrepreneurial spirit was fueled when I started my career in the food industry, owning and managing Italian restaurants and cafes. Along with a strong work ethic instilled by my father, this path provided me the understanding, experience and insights into the needs and concerns of building and sustaining a business.
Combining the skills learned in the restaurants with the tax expertise gained while consulting, I bring a unique view to my clients. Working together with clients, regardless of size, through growth, changing landscapes and challenges, I lean on my knowledge and skills, including leadership, dedication, integrity, and understanding the value of partnership.
Through the years, I have learned that it is not enough to lead by example or promote an agenda – to truly make a difference it is important to take time to listen to others’ needs or ideas; share knowledge and teach from experience; know when to change paths; or step back when that is what is best. Listening to clients, understanding and putting their needs first, drives my desire to always provide excellent client service here at A&M Tax Advisory Services, PLLC.
I have worked as an advisor of Indirect Taxes, specializing in sales and use tax consulting, for the past 20+ years. Working at large public accounting firms gave me the opportunity to consult with clients of all sizes that span various industries; from information services to the waste industry to manufacturing, just to name a few. While I was based in the Chicago market, I had the privilege of working with national clients leading and managing projects in various state and local tax jurisdictions.
My passion for providing excellent client service and teaming internally or externally with people both inside and outside of the tax area, has been fulfilling and is the driving force in my career. My continued desire for working in the sales and use tax space is that there is always change – in business, industry trends and/or tax technical. These changes provide a continued opportunity to learn, grow and share best practices as a tax consultant, trusted advisor, and client partner.
My expertise and enthusiasm for client service has led me to the next phase of my career, the launching of A&M Tax Advisory Services, PLLC. At A&M, I can build on my experiences, while always being open to new changes that affect my clients by providing a variety of services to them, including audit defense, tax system set-up, training of personnel, process improvements, exemption maintenance, or recovery of tax overpayments.
